"檳榔 (Betel Nuts)" captures the enduring presence of betel nut in my homeland—a tradition deeply woven into daily life yet shadowed by controversy.
Conceived in the solitude of COVID-19 quarantine, this series lingers on the quiet persistence of betel nut booths, lining highways as the world rushes past. Their presence is more than just a nod to tradition; they stand at the intersection of necessity and habit, survival and indulgence. In capturing them, this series reflects not only on a cultural staple but also on the complexities and choice people make, what they hold onto, and how they define well-being in a world that never stops moving.
